We’d like to give a big thank you to the Generosity Project and students at Burns Park and St Francis schools for their donation of personal items! The Generosity Project is aimed at teaching kids the value of generosity through donations to local non- profits. Students from St Francis and Burns Park schools were able to learn about generosity while making “goody bags” of personal care items for SOS and writing about what generosity means to them.

Judy Mac, a representative of the Generosity Project, says that the group donates things to organizations that serve under resourced children and adults to encourage children to share what they have with those less fortunate. With SOS students shared shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. “I think that the items we packed are things most of the children take for granted, says Judy, “they learned that some people are lacking simple everyday items and that small acts of generosity can have an impact.”

The Generosity project has worked with local children to give to 10 Michigan nonprofits. Not bad for an organization that began in February of this year!

Judy says that most kids just get it: “we have found the children are very receptive to the whole concept of generosity. It’s been a wonderful experience for us and for the children.”
