ABOUT US

Who We Are

An open hand. An open heart. An open door to a better future.

SOS Community Services is dedicated to preventing and ending family homelessness in Washtenaw County through partnerships with caring individuals, local businesses, social service agencies, and professionals.

The families who come to SOS today don’t need shelter as much as they need a place to call home. That’s why SOS has adopted a new nationally recognized model called Rapid Re-Housing, which moves families quickly to permanent, affordable housing instead of prolonging homelessness with a shelter stay. While stabilizing their housing situation, families can access needed vital services such as employment support, after-school children’s programs, and in-home parenting education services.

We directly serve 30,000 people annually, including families, individuals, and children, with services that end homelessness, promote self-sufficiency, and help families maintain permanent housing.

Our Mission: SOS promotes housing stability and family self-sufficiency through collaboration, care, and respect.
