  • Increase their personal budgeting skills by participating in money management workshops

The program includes:

  • Intensive case management & assessment of consumer needs
  • Temporary housing in local apartments for up to 2 years
  • Housing relocation assistance for long-term permanent housing
  • Life skills training (budgeting, household management, parenting)
  • Access to other SOS programs and community programs
  • Support groups

Housing First

SOS Housing First program provides rapid entry to permanent, affordable housing for homeless families.  Families placed in shelter or transitional housing in Washtenaw County are eligible to receive Homeless Assistance Recovery Program (HARP) vouchers in order to maintain long-term residential stability in Washtenaw County.

Program Accomplishments:

  • First county nonprofit to adopt Housing First as principal model of service.
  • One of the most exciting outcomes of the Housing First program is that within one year 24 families who were homeless now have permanent homes.
  • Milestones include significant improvements in family income, education, employment and parenting skills.
